My New Headband (a.k.a secret weapon of power)

December 2, 2009

This post is gonna be short. It won’t be the casual update you have been hoping for. We’ve been rocking our money fast, and I’ve started a new exercise regimen which promises to make me into a superfreak, but that’s not what this post is about.

This post is about my new headband.

Don’t re-read that last sentence, you read it right. As pictured below, I am now the proud new wearer of a blue puma headband. I’ve been wanting one for a long time, and finally the other day Max offered to buy me one.

“But where can we find a headband at 6pm in the Castro?” Max asked.

“Are you kidding? It’s the Castro!” Chanterelle and I responded.

Only minutes later we were terrorizing Walgreens. But there was nothing there. I had envisioned choosing between a rack of rainbow and polka-dots. But even after continuing on to Cliff’s Hardware across the street, my hair still hung in my face like a feather boa.

We careened across the street to BODY, a gay fitness store from which I had purchased my Speedo the month before. Once again, the queen behind the counter came to my rescue.

“We have blue, red, and American flag style.” He told me.

The debate over the color I should get was heated, but eventually Max laid down the law.

“You’ll look more like goof if you wear blue. Go with that one.” He ordered.

And thus my rubber ducky was born (the concept of a rubber ducky is my variation on Havi’s “red velvet rope”, read the link for more).

Whether working out, in class, or walking down the streets of San Francisco, you won’t see me without my new headband. It shall be my source of strength. Another source of inspiration.

Tynan had his sparkly hat. Havi has a rubber ducky. Now I have my headband. Life is good.

More updates coming soon.
