Well, this was definately an enjoyable and fairly action-packed day! Julie and I caught a ride with Betty (Julie’s grandmother) into the actual town of Julian where I was able to be a tourist for a little while and enjoy the many touristy things Julian has to offer (for me, essentially, some of my favorite foods…)
We stopped first at the “Miner’s Diner”, as I was famished of a hunger spawning from my slow adaptation to the family’s eating habits (big meals, 4-5 hours apart, whereas my hypoglycemia tends to call for small meals MANY times in the day). I had been told stories of the famous huge dill pickle jar that would be waiting for my invasion and I was not disappointed. Large and well-seasoned pickles were waiting for me and I was so engrossed in my enjoyment, I felt to get a photo.
Ah well.
Next (after some detours) we decided to have lunch at the “Rong Branch” resteraunt. Julie had friends working there and they were able to get us a table quickly even with the long line and 30 minute wait.
Julie’s best friend from middle school, heather, came to join us. After the lunch, we decided to take a walk over to their old school stomping grounds (the Julian elementary/middle/high school). We enjoyed some fun in the playground and played some soccer before getting picked back up, taken back home to Julie’s house, and enjoying some good old made-for-TV movies.
